Working In An Office Made Me Cynical

Working in an office made me cynical of folk.
Back stabbing and arse covering became a bit of a joke.

And now I see ulterior-motives on the exterior,
And that’s the last thing that I want for you to do.

But I don’t want to be preachy, or be an over bearing Dad.
Something’s just work out good, even if they start off bad.

I Don’t have an inspiring quote,
And this is really no keynote.
But if I have some things that I should pass to you…

Don’t do as I do, don’t do as I say.
I’m sure you’ll find that helpful anyway.

Don’t follow your heart, don’t follow your head.
That’s the wisest thing I ever said.

This might sound disingenuous but there really is no trick,
To how I got quite so lucky, there is no get rich quick.

But that doesn’t mean to say you have to sit there and just stay,
I’m just trying to say don’t feel bad for ANY choice.

It’s not a marathon, and it’s definitely not a sprint.
But don’t take that as your only fixed blueprint.

Less isn’t more, but more isn’t less.
I hope that helps you sort out all this mess.

All isn’t fair, in love or in war.
But that won’t matter if you’re not keeping score.

Don’t strike while it’s hot, don’t make any hay.
I didn’t, and I turned out ok.

You’ll know what you should do when you need to.
Don’t do what you think you OUGHT to do…
…just do whatever you WANT to do.
